Product Description
Overview
Basalt fiber is a new type of high-performance inorganic eco-friendly mineral fiber, which is produced by melting natural volcanic basalt ore at high temperature, spinning, cooling and continuous forming. Derived purely from natural volcanic rock without any harmful chemical additives in the whole production process, basalt fiber possesses far superior comprehensive performance compared with glass fiber, carbon fiber, aramid fiber and traditional asbestos fiber.
It is widely recognized as an advanced reinforcing composite material featuring high tensile strength, extreme high temperature resistance, excellent wear resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, flame retardancy, thermal insulation, sound insulation, electrical insulation and aging resistance. At present, basalt fiber has been extensively applied in automobile brake friction materials, aerospace industry, construction reinforcement, petrochemical engineering, shipbuilding & marine engineering, fire protection safety, thermal insulation insulation, environmental protection equipment and municipal infrastructure fields, becoming an irreplaceable core raw material for global high-end manufacturing and green industrial upgrading.
Raw Material & Production Process
The raw material of basalt fiber is natural basalt volcanic rock, which features abundant natural reserves, stable mineral composition and pure texture. Its main chemical compositions include silica, alumina, iron oxide, calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, together with trace elements such as titanium oxide, potassium oxide and sodium oxide. All raw ores are strictly screened and crushed to ensure stable ingredient proportion before entering the melting furnace.
The whole production process adopts closed environmental protection production lines. The processed basalt raw materials are melted into homogeneous liquid state under high temperature of 1400ºC to 1500ºC, then drawn into continuous filament via precise bushing technology. After professional surface sizing treatment, winding, twisting and weaving processing, the final products are made into basalt fiber roving, chopped strand, woven fabric, mesh cloth, fiber felt, tape, twisted yarn and other customized profiles.
The whole production procedure is energy-saving, environmentally friendly and pollution-free, without adding any toxic and harmful substances. The finished fiber has uniform fineness, stable linear density, good bundling property and excellent dispersion performance, which can be perfectly compatible with resin, rubber, friction powder and other substrate materials, fully meeting the diversified processing demands of different industries.
Physical & Mechanical Performance Advantage
Basalt fiber owns ultra-high tensile strength and elastic modulus, whose mechanical strength is much higher than ordinary E-glass fiber and reaches the level of medium-grade carbon fiber. With outstanding impact resistance, crack resistance and structural reinforcement capacity, the fiber features compact molecular structure and stable internal organization structure, not easy to deform under long-term external force and heavy load.
Under complex working conditions of high load, frequent friction and strong impact, basalt fiber can maintain long-term mechanical stability without fatigue damage and structural cracking. Meanwhile, it has moderate density and lightweight characteristic with high specific strength, which can effectively reduce the overall weight of finished products while ensuring structural strength. It is an ideal lightweight reinforcing material widely used in automobile manufacturing, aerospace, rail transit and transportation equipment industry, helping downstream products realize energy saving and consumption reduction.
Brand New 3Mm Basalt Fiber Chopped Strands For brake pad and brake linning
Basalt fibers are continuous fibers made by high-speed drawing of platinum-rhodium alloy wire-drawing leak plate after basalt material is melted at 1450 ~1500 C. Similar to glass fibers, its properties are between high-strength S glass fibers and alkali-free E glass fibers. Pure natural basalt fibers are generally brown in color, and some are golden in color..
Basalt Fiber Chopped Strand is has been widely used in fiber reinforced composites, friction materials, shipbuilding materials, thermal insulation materials, automotive industry, high temperature filter fabrics and protection fields.
