Raw vermiculite &expaned vermiculite

• Vermiculite is a layer-structured metamorphic rock of gibbsite silicate. Rich in magnesium.
• It comes from hot-liquid-eroded or weathered phlogopite. 
• When it is heated to lose water and expands, lt turns curvingas a leech. Therefore is called vermiculite.
• It can be divide into original vermiculite and expanded vermiculite. 
• It can also be divided into golden vermiculite and silver white vermiculite according to its color

• Vermiculite is a mineraloid of hydrated laminar magnesium-aluminum-ironsilicate. Its chemical composition greatly varies and chemical formation could be simplified as ( Mg.Fe..Fe.. )3[(SiA)4O10][OH]24H2O. When heated to a temperature of about 850-950ºC, it instantly expands (exfoliates) up to 15-25 times as water flashing into steam, maximum 30 times its original bulk volume. There is a color change during expansion from golden brown into silver white depending upon the composition of the vermiculite and temperature. With such prominent characteristics as being fireproof, heat insulating, sound and moisture absorbing, non-toxic, lightweight and disease free, it is widely used in construction, chemical industry, petroleum, electronics, light industry, environmental protection and as medium of agricultural chemical products etc.

Exfoliated vermiculite in the  process  of  high temperature roasting , they can expand many times, and the average density of the expanded vermiculite is about 100-130kg/m3, they have  small air separation layer , so they are good  construction  materials of  heat preservation ,  thermal insulation  sound absorption , and  corrosion  proof , and also industry  loading material , coating, anti-fire materials.  E xpanded vermiculite can extensively used in many industries such as construction,  metallurgy ,  chemical industry ,  light industry ,  machinery , electric power, petroleum, environment protection  communication ,  transportation  and horticulture. 

Main applications: 

1. Construction materials: Light materials such as light concrete materials, light  calcimine  and light mortar. 

2.  Heat resisting material : Wall materials, anti-fire board, anti-fire mortar, firebrick, and brake linings. 

3.  Heat preservation ,  thermal insulation  and  sound absorption  materials:  Underground pipeline, heat preservation material used in hothouse pipeline, decoration material used in  upholstery  and tunnel, also wall and ceiling in the public. 

4. Metallurgy: Steel frame cladding materials,  removal of slag  when manufacture of iron and foundry

5.  Agriculture , forestry and horticulture:  Golf course  lawn, seed preservation agent, soil regulation agent, wetting agent, plant growth agent, feed additives, horticulture mixture, fishing and bait.
