General Purpose Polystyrene (GPPS) is a thermoplastic resin that is colorless, odorless, odorless, and glossy, transparent, bead like or granular solid. Low water absorption, able to maintain its mechanical properties and dimensional stability in humid environments. The optical performance is second only to acrylic resin. Excellent electrical performance, high volume and surface resistivity, and unaffected by temperature and humidity changes, as well as corona discharge. The radiation resistance is also very good. Its main drawbacks are brittle and easy to crack, low impact strength, poor heat resistance, and inability to withstand boiling water. It can only be used at lower temperatures and loads. Poor sunlight resistance and flammability. When burning, it emits black smoke and has a special odor. GPPS has good flowability, good processing performance, easy coloring, and good dimensional stability. It can be processed into various parts by injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, foaming, Thermoforming, bonding, coating, welding, machining, printing and other methods, especially suitable for injection molding.
